Congress Trades FAQ
- How do congressional stock disclosures work?
- Under the STOCK Act, members of Congress must disclose securities transactions. Filings can take up to 45 days after the trade, so public data is inherently delayed versus the transaction date.
- Why are amounts shown as ranges?
- Disclosures report transaction size in statutory bands (for example $1,001–$15,000), not exact share counts or dollar amounts.
- What is the difference between trade date and disclosure date?
- Trade date is when the purchase or sale occurred. Disclosure date is when the filing became public. LOPJLB shows both so you can see filing lag.
- Is this investment advice?
- No. This page aggregates public STOCK Act filings for research and transparency. It is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
